TOURIST INFORMATION
Since the tourist information desk for the guests will not be available at the venue, please visit the following sites for example and reserve any in advance for your wonderful and memorable stay in Kumamoto and Japan.
Weather in Kumamoto
Average temperature range during the symposium (beginning of June) is from 17 (in the morning) to 27 degrees C (in the afternoon), and Japanese traditional rainy season is about to start. So, it would be a little bit humid weather. Information from the Japan Meteorological Agency may help you prepare for your clothes.
Tipping
There is no tipping custom in Japan. Service charges are included in the bill for rooms, meals and other services at hotels and/or exclusive restaurants. You must pay consumption tax (8~10%) instead.
Electricity
The standard electrical supply is 100 volts AC/60 cycles with type A outlet. It would be better to have your own conversion plug.
Currency
The official currency is Japanese Yen. Major foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks, hotels, and international airports. Most of the hotels, restaurants, and shops accept major international credit cards such as Visa, Master Card, American Express, Diners Club, Union Pay and JCB.
